Texans For Housing advocates for changes in law to make it easier to build more housing in Texas in proximity to daily needs, resulting in greater affordability, lower tax burdens for homeowners, and lower environmental costs.
Understanding the need
Central cities are no longer affordable for young families. Rising costs threaten Texas’ advantage as a destination for businesses. Around the state, people spend hundreds of thousands of hours and dollars fighting for housing at City Halls but housing affordability is still going backward. Texas needs a better framework that puts property rights and affordability first.

Many organizations in Texas do great work at the capitol breaking down barriers to housing for Texans. Our organization brings two new angles:

We are policy entrepreneurs, not business representatives.
